Aida Marina Ortega, a longtime resident of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026 surrounded by the family she spent her life nurturing. She was 90 years old.

Early Life and Journey

Born on March 23, 1936, in Quito, Ecuador, Aida was the beloved daughter of the late Luis Molina and Rosa Fuertes. In a testament to her brave and independent spirit, Aida emigrated from Ecuador at the age of 32, seeking to build a new chapter and provide a world of opportunity for her family.

A Life of Dedication

Upon settling in Stamford, Aida became a familiar face in the community through her many years of hard work at Clairol. Colleagues and friends knew her as a tireless worker who never shied away from a challenge. Perhaps the greatest symbol of her lifelong "can-do" attitude was her decision to learn to drive at the age of 40-a feat that perfectly captured her fiercely independent nature.

Her Legacy of Love

While her work ethic was unmatched, Aida's heart belonged entirely to her family. Her greatest joy was found in the simple moments spent with her children and grandchildren. She succeeded in her lifelong mission to provide the best possible life for her children, who will remember her as the bedrock of their family.

Family

Aida is survived by her four devoted children: Susy Ortega, Nancy Bentley, Gino Ortega, and Selma Conte.

Her legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandson, all of whom carry a piece of her strength and love with them.

Service Information

The wake will be Wednesday, April 29th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lacerenza Macari Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. The funeral mass will be Thursday, April 30th at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church, also on Schuyler Avenue.
