Anna Louise Valentine, born on July 27, 1927, in Stamford, Connecticut, was the daughter of Angelo Cotellessa and Domenica Caputo, and the spouse of the late Michael R. Valentine for 55 years.
Mrs. Valentine worked at the Cotton Fair dress shop in Stamford and held positions within the City of Stamford School system’s cafeterias, Olin Corporation, and Champion International Headquarters Cafeterias. She retired in 1999 and subsequently relocated to Heritage Village in Southbury, CT.
Her community involvement included serving as Den Mother for Cub Scouts of America Pack 49, President of the American Little League Women’s Auxiliary, and being elected as the first female President of Stamford’s National Babe Ruth Baseball Association. Alongside her husband, she contributed to establishing the parent’s committee for the Young Marines Organization in the 1960's. Her personal interests included swimming, participating in her card club, cooking for her family, Bingo, and dancing to Star Dust with the love of her life. Most of all, baseball wasn’t just a pastime, it was her passion. From Babe to Jeter, from the old stadium to the new, she stood by her Yankees, win or lose. From Opening Day to the World Series, she never missed a game, cheering with unwavering loyalty. Now, she’s watching from the best seat in the house,
She is survived by her daughter Sandi Valentine of Harwich, MA; son Gary (Deb) Valentine of Wilton, CT; Mary Deborah Valentine of Norwalk CT; granddaughters Sarah Ann Valentine and Dena Ann Valentine, both of Norwalk, CT, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Michael N. Valentine, brother Nicholas Cotellessa, and sisters Josephine Parte, Mary Terico, Rose Springer, and Angelina Vaiuso.
