Dwight E. Richards, age 35, affectionately known to his nieces and nephews as “Uncle Wight” and to many friends as “Wickd,” peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Dwight was born on January 19, 1991, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Demarvel Gaskin and Jimmy Hill.
Dwight was funny, protective, and tender beneath his strength. He carried a presence that could fill a room without ever demanding attention. When Dwight spoke, people listened. Though he was not always fully understood, those who truly knew him understood the depth of his love and how fiercely he cared for the people closest to him.
He loved music, anime, laughter, and, above all else, his family and friends. He had a gift for making others feel seen and valued, whether through a meaningful conversation, a shared laugh, or simply being present when someone needed him most.
To be loved is to be known, and Dwight was deeply known. He lives on in the stories that will continue to be told, the memories that will be cherished, and the pieces of himself he entrusted to those fortunate enough to love him.
Losing Dwight feels like losing someone who was meant to be here forever. He possessed a strength that made him seem untouchable, almost timeless. When he listened, it felt as though the world slowed down for a moment, allowing you to feel truly heard and understood.
ow, the absence of someone whose spirit felt larger than life is difficult to comprehend. Not because Dwight was perfect, but because to those who loved him, his presence felt permanent.
Dwight has made his way home, reunited with his father, Jimmy Hill, and his beloved cousin, Gary Foster. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Demarvel Gaskin; his Aunt Scillisa Kinder; his sisters, December and Ashley; his brother, Demario; his maternal grandmother, Evon Mondezie; his paternal great-grandmother, Celestine Dillard; his first cousins, who were more like siblings, Brian, David, Bianca, and Kevin; his brother by bond and friendship, Taquan Brown; and a host of loving relatives, friends, and all whose lives were touched by his presence.
His absence leaves a silence that cannot be filled, but his spirit remains in the music he loved, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
Dwight was loved.
Dwight was known.
Dwight mattered.
And to those of us who knew and loved him, he will always remain a little bit invincible.
Rest easy, Dwight. You made it home.
