Edward James Ienner Sr., 87, a resident of Newtown, CT, passed away on June 7th, 2026 at Danbury Hospital.

Edward was born on September 8th, 1938 in Stamford, CT, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Roda) Ienner. He graduated from Stamford High School and Western Connecticut State College. Edward was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1960. He was a member of HMX-1, a specialized US Marine Corps unit headquartered at MCAF Quantico, VA. under the command of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

For over 25 years, Edward worked for The Stamford Public School System as a teacher, both at the Elementary and Middle School levels. Edward enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He was also active in coaching youth sports, especially baseball and football.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Anita Ienner, son Edward J. Ienner Jr. (Jennifer), brother Joseph J. Ienner Jr., grandchildren Sophia Ienner and Dominick Ienner, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Edward is predeceased by his sister, Christine Ienner Stokes.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 16th from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford CT. In accordance with Edward’s request, there will be no public funeral. To leave an online condolence please visit www.lacerenzafh.com
