Filomena Mallozzi, 85, a longtime Stamford resident passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 7, 2025. She was born on March 31, 1940 in Scauri, Italy to the late Pasquale and Angela D'Acunto and immigrated to the United States in 1955 with her late father.
Filomena was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting nonna. As a mother of five and grandmother of eight, Filomena was the heart of the Mallozzi family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and dear friends. Filomena's kitchen was the gathering place for Sunday dinners, holiday celebrations, and impromptu family get-togethers. Her homemade tomato sauce ("gravy") and meatballs were a favorite of all who gathered.
Filomena was a long-time parishioner of St Leo Parish in Stamford and enjoyed singing in the choir for many decades.
Aside from her parents, Filomena is predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Antonio Mallozzi. She is survived by her five children, Anna Irizarry, Angela Mallozzi, Lisa (Craig) Zezima, Savina (Paul) Waldron, and Anthony Mallozzi (Katryna Margolies); two brothers-in-law, Benedetto (Antoinette) Mallozzi, and Ennio (Donna) Mallozzi; a sister-in-law, Isa (Rino) Zanola; eight grandchildren, Jonathan and Anthony Irizarry, Samantha, Sarah and CJ Zezima, Sophia and Andrew Waldron and Ava Mallozzi; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to Drs. Angelo Mallozzi, Anthony Gulati, and Michael Karellas for their compassionate care as well as the hospice staff from Health Care Connectors.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, July 13th from 3 to 7pm at the Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 14th at 10:30 am at St. Leo Parish, 24 Roxbury Rd, Stamford. Burial will immediately follow at St. John's Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien, CT.
