Frank R. Vartuli Sr.

Frank "Buddy" Vartuli Sr., 93, of Stamford, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, after a long illness. Born October 24, 1932, he was the son of Raffaele and Filomena "Tarzia" Vartuli.

He attended St. Basil's and Stamford High School. Buddy was a standout sandlot athlete in baseball and football, earning a scholarship offer from Michigan State. He later continued playing semi-professional football for the Golden Bears and in Stamford's top softball leagues, winning multiple championships and awards.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Stamford and built a successful 40-year career as the owner of Robert Patrick Hair Salon on High Ridge Road. He later worked for Mar-Le Electric and served as a crossing guard at Stamford High School, a role he deeply enjoyed.

Buddy was married for 69 years to his devoted wife, Jeanette Vartuli Latte. He is survived by his children: Roxane Keith (William) of Amarillo, TX; Frank Vartuli Jr. (Karen) of Westport; Ralph Vartuli (Jackie) of Stamford; and Michael R. Vartuli Sr. (Kim) of Trumbull; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sisters Catherine Buchetto and Lucy Cardin (Richard); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Michael Vartuli (Janet), Mary Cassone (Victor), and his brother-in-law Peter Buchetto.

A devoted Catholic and passionate fan of the New York Giants and Yankees, Buddy will be remembered for his strong faith, love of family, and dedication to his community.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday February 17, 2026, from 9:00am-11:00am at Lacerenza Macari Funeral Home 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 17, 2026, at 11:30am at St. Bridget of Ireland Church 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford.
