Jacques Charles was born in Petites-Desdunes, outside of Gonaives, Haiti. His father was the late Emmanuel Charles. His mother was the late Anna Moise. He was the sixth of seven children born of the union. He moved to Port-au-Prince to complete his education and went on to study to be a tailor and an automobile mechanic.
He relocated to the United States in the 1980's to join family. He worked in the food service industry for many years and was employed in many local restaurants. He completed his career, finishing as a cook at the Brighton Garden Assisted Living in Stamford CT. He was a member of several congregations in Stamford and in Norwalk.
After a long illness and hospitalization, he passed away at the Norwalk Hospital on September 23, 2025. He was 75 years old.
Preceded in death by the following Anna Moise Charles (Mother), Emmanuel Charles (Father), Arnold Charles (Brother), Lucien Charles (Brother), Mercelie Charles (Sister) and Liné Charles (Brother).
He is survived by his two children: a son, Woodly Charles, of Port-au-Prince, Haiti and a daughter, Diane Charles Cherisier (David) of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by two brothers, Rev. Joseph A. Charles (Marie Estelle) of Stamford CT and Emmanuel Charles (Louina) of Jacksonville, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
