Joseph L. Cipolla, age 99, a resident of Stamford, CT, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 26, at his home, surrounded by his adoring family.

Joe was born on September 22, 1927, in Stamford, CT, the son of the late Louis R. Cipolla and Margaret Lilian Bivona Cipolla. He attended Stamford High School, where he met his future wife, Theresa Scutti. It was love at first sight. They were married in 1951.

After graduating, he enlisted at the age of 19, in the Navy, towards the end of World War II. He served most of his 4-year term in China, on a pilot boat, guiding ships on the Yangtze River. He served an additional 2 years during the Korean Conflict, but never left the states.

After finishing his service in the military, Joe began the next and most rewarding part of his life in the creative arts.

At the beginning of the heyday of the advertising business, Joe was there, creating award-winning campaigns for major brands and products. He was known as the nicest man in the business and earned high praise from everyone he worked with. Joe was also an accomplished watercolorist, and for the rest of his life was a signature member of the American Watercolor Society. He was awarded many times while exhibiting in galleries in New York City and New England.

When not painting, or engaged in his hobby of building stone walls, Joe could be found in his favorite spot, basking in the warm sun on a summer day.

Joe is survived by his children, Karen Cipolla (Chris Perry), William Cipolla, Ronald Cipolla (Eileen Cipolla), Wendy Boccuzzi (Steve Boccuzzi); his grandson Sean Boccuzzi (Sierra Delgigante); and his great granddaughter Savannah Boccuzzi.

Family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 to 10:30am on Tuesday, October 6th, at Lacerenza Macari Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave, Stamford, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 at Holy Spirit Church, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, and the burial at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 124 Rock Rimmon Road, Stamford.
