Maria Teresa Tomas “Teresina”, 87, of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children on May 15, 2025.
Teresina was born on April 5, 1938 in Arena, Italy, the daughter of the late Domenico and Elisabetta Francese Corbo. She is survived by her husband Carmelo, her children Carmine (Jill), Maria (Doug) and Lisa and her beloved grandchildren Luke, Olivia and Brando, as well as her loving cat Jinkies. Teresina is also survived by her twin sister, Giuseppina Lombardo of Vibo Valentia, Italy, her dear brother Francesco Corbo of Stamford, CT, her cherished sister-in-law Giuseppina Galimi and many nieces and nephews, who she loved with all her heart.
Teresina is predeceased by her brother Fiorenzio Corbo and sister Olimpia Rosa Iorfino.
Having immigrated from Italy in 1969, Teresina made her home on the West Side of Stamford, with family who came before her, and Sacred Heart Church as the center of her strong faith. She worked steadily while raising her children and keeping constant connection to the most important aspect of her life – her large extended family. Teresina was an accomplished seamstress, having learned the craft at a young age in Italy. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlework, making countless gifts for her family over the years. She is famous for her ravioli cookies as not a single person could ever turn them down.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 23 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. Our sincerest thanks to Anita, her physical therapist, whom she adored and considered her third daughter, for keeping her dancing and laughing for almost 15 years. The family also extends thanks to the nurses and staff of Waveny Visiting Nurse and Hospice and to her aide, Jocelyne, for always keeping her in the sunshine- Mamma’s favorite place to be.
