Marjorie Ann Kappas ("Marge"), 82, a lifelong resident of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away on April 21, 2026 at Stamford Hospital.
Marge was born on October 21, 1943, in Stamford, Connecticut; the daughter of the late Joseph and Jenny Sciglimpaglia (Stramandinoli). She graduated from Stamford High School and received her associate's degree in nursing from Norwalk Community College.
Marge worked as a nurse for more than thirty years, including a decade at Stamford Hospital and more than two decades as a public health nurse for the City of Stamford. She spent her entire life enjoying racquet sports, playing tennis all summer at the Italian Center, paddle tennis in the winter, and then pickleball whenever she could reach the courts. She volunteered throughout her life in support of ARI of Connecticut and the Respite Program of Connecticut DMR, particularly dedicated to helping children in need. After she retired, she continued to provide care for the community through organizations including No One Dies Alone. She also stayed actively engaged by volunteering for more than a decade at the Ferguson Library in downtown Stamford.
Marge is survived by her loving husband George; sons Chris Romaniello (Barry), Matt Romaniello (Paul), and stepson Jim Kappas (Kelley); two grandchildren Julie and Emily Kappas, their mother Nancy Egart; and brother Robert Sciglimpaglia (Barbara).
Marge ws predeceased by her son Michael Romaniello and stepson Donald Kappas and her brother Peter Sciglimpaglia. Marge was laid to rest alongside her loved ones on April 25th at the St. John Cemetery in Darien, Connecticut.
There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
