Peter Magee

Peter Joseph Magee, 96, a resident of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026. Peter was born on March 24, 1929, in The Bronx, New York, to the late Peter and Mary (Gilsenan) Magee. He was a graduate of Manhattan College and St. John's University School of Law.

In 1950, Peter earned his wings as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and went on to serve as a decorated Marine Corps fighter pilot during the Korean War. He flew more than 100 combat missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery and service.

Peter spent more than 40 years as an aviation attorney, a career that beautifully united his love of flying with the practice of law. He had a deep love of knowledge and was a passionate reader, particularly drawn to works on history, politics, and aviation, subjects that endlessly fascinated him.

Peter proudly embraced his Irish heritage, which remained close to his heart throughout his life. He found great joy in listening to Irish music and reading about Ireland's history, traditions, and struggles. A man of strong faith, Peter faithfully attended church and lived his life guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Peter is survived by his loving children, Robert (Susan), P.J. (Kathy), Kathy, Carol Smith (Sean), Stephanie Nicoletti (Joseph), and John; his brother John; as well as 12 cherished grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage, and by his siblings Patrick, Catherine, Michael, and Theresa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 23, at 10:30 am in St. Leo's Catholic Church, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT.
