Stefano (Steve) Valente, 90, of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2026. Born on October 17th, 1935 in Pulcherini, Italy to the late Filippo and Francesca Valente.

At a young age of 20, Stefano immigrated to the United States from Italy with nothing but hope, determination, and a dream of building a better life. Successfully securing employment and learning English he returned to Italy where he fell in love with Teresa Poccia, his wife of 64 years. Together, they settled in Stamford working to provide for his family. A long-time, active member of Sacred Heart Church, where he enjoyed ushering for the Sunday morning Italian mass.

Stefano always carried a smile everywhere he went. You could find him walking the neighborhood, enjoying a conversation with friends and neighbors he saw in his travels. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, and nonno! A constant source of love, strength, and guidance.

Stefano is survived by his loving wife Teresa, his daughters Francesca Valente and Lucy Thorme (John); six grandchildren; David Borea (Melissa), Mark Borea (Xio), Stefanie Metellus (Jordan), Eric Borea, Johnny Thorme (Kerry), and Kimberly Thorme along with five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Chloe, Jason, Miles Stefano, and Madison Borea who genuinely filled his heart with pride and joy. Also survived by siblings Benedetto, and Benina. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Giovanni.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, February 4, from 9:00 to 11:00AM at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave, Stamford CT followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30AM at Sacred Heart Church 37 Schuyler Ave, Stamford CT. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave, Darien, CT.
