Teresa (Poccia) Valente, 82, a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2026 surrounded by her family.

Born on July 2, 1944, in Santa Maria Infante, Italy. Teresa was the daughter of the late Antonio and Lucia Poccia. In 1961, Teresa migrated to the United States so she and her husband of 64 years, Stefano Valente, could build their "American Dream". Together, they settled in Stamford raising their two daughters: Francesca Valente and Lucy Thorme.

You could always find Teresa in the kitchen happily cooking up her second-to-none pasta sauce, and rolling her treasured meatball. She also had a knack for thinly cutting chicken cutlets and frying them to perfection. She loved being with family and was overjoyed when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren would visit gushing with happiness to see them enjoying the meals she prepared. And let's not forget her famous sponge cake! Her family was her greatest pride, and the legacy of her kindness, generosity, and fierce love will live on through them.

Teresa is survived by her daughters Francesca Valente and Lucy Thorme (John). She is the cherished grandma to six grandchildren; David Borea (Melissa), Mark Borea (Xio), Stefanie Metellus (Jordany), Eric Borea, Johnny Thorme (Kerry), and Kimberly Thorme. As a proud great-grandma/ "nonna," she was adored by her five great-grandchildren: Chloe, Miles, Andrew, Jason, and Madison Borea as well as the exciting anticipation of her sixth great-grandson due in January. Teresa was predeceased by her sisters: Massimina Poccia, Assunta Parante, and Giuseppina Mella.

Family and friends are invited to honor Teresa with visitation being held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave, Stamford CT.
