Thomas J Telesco, a Norwalk resident and former Darien/Stamford resident/auto repair business owner, Passed away April 6th at Stamford Hospital at the age of 79.
Born June 18th 1946 he was the son of the late Thomas Telesco and Antoinette Telesco/ Costabile of Stamford. Tom was a former Stamford resident where he grew up and went to school. He attended JM Wright Technical High School and Graduated class of 64'.
At a young age Tom took interest in mechanics and was a local paperboy with his younger brother John.
Over the years Tom opened his own auto repair business (as many have come to know him for his services to the community) with his mother helping keep the books, whom everyone affectionately referred to as Mrs T.
His first location was Strassers in the Noroton district of Darien, across from the Noroton Fire Dept.
Later Tom moved his business down the road to Post Road Sunoco in Darien, across from H&L Cheverolet (where he was in service for many years as a full service station repairing cars and pumping gas, known for the location to get Cam 2 race fuel.)
Tom later moved his business to its final location on Glenbrook Road in Stamford known as Classic and Muscle, where he again performed repairs and service/built muscle cars, along with selling Cam 2 race fuels.
Tom was one of the best life long mechanics in the area and a specialist on older vehicle service/repairs. He was known for his knowledge on all makes/models especially Buicks.
Known as the "Nailhead" guru by many, he specialized in making performance parts for these engines with his close friend Bob Hornlein (deceased).
Tom was also a long time drag racer and raced/repaired many race cars that race at old time tracks like the Danbury Fair Race Arena, Connecticut Dragway, Dover Dragway, and Raceway Park "English Town".
Tom will be dearly missed by family and friends, whom through the years he loved to help and share his knowledge with, especially the classic car community.
Tom is survived by his brother John Telesco and his wife Connie (recently deceased), his sister Nanette Telesco/Chang and her husband Andrew, and his two children Tommy Telesco jr and Billy Telesco.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 12th from 9:00am to 12pm at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT for a memorial service.
